'98 Subaru Impreza 22B STi. A highly-tuned wide body version of the first-generation Subaru Impreza, the car was named supposedly for its 2.2L EJ22G flat-4 engine and the Bilstein suspension (although "B" was Subaru's internal code for a turbocharger); however, "22B" is actually hexadecimal for "555", referencing State Express 555, Subaru's major sponsor in the WRC, leaving the story about how the car was named a bit of a mystery. The car itself however was used as a commemorative piece for Subaru's 40th anniversary and their third consecutive manufacturer's title in the World Rally Championship.
A total of 424 were produced; 400 for the Japanese market (which were sold out within either 30 minutes or 48 hours depending on reports) and 24 more for export (16 for the United Kingdom, 5 for Australia and 3 prototypes). The 16 headed to the United Kingdom were modified by Prodrive with longer gear ratios and different head and taillamps.
