This is a '68 Mazda Cosmo Sport 110S. Designed by Heiji Kobayashi and Kenichi Yamamoto, the Cosmo was first introduced in 1967 as Mazda's halo car, a niche which is remained in throughout its production life. Featuring the now-legendary Mazda Wankel engine, the car was one of the first few cars to feature the Wankel engine, alongside the NSU Ro80. Using a 1.0L 0810 two-rotor Wankel engine (initially) producing 110 BHP through a 4-speed manual, an initial prototype was presented at the 1964 Tokyo Motor Show, before full production commenced in May 1967. The name "Cosmo" was chosen due to international fascination with the Space Race, as Mazda wanted to showcase their Wankel engines as being "forward thinking" with a focus on future developments and technology. The engine was later swapped out to become a 1.0L 0813 two-rotor Wankel engine producing 130 BHP through a 5-speed manual. Cars were hand-built at a rate of one per day, with production ending in 1972 with 1259 produced, including prototypes; of the total, 833 were Series II cars. The car was also famous for its appearance in Ultraman.
Now, about the casting. Designed by Mark Jones, this casting was introduced in the 2020 Japan Historics 3 series in the above paintscheme. It has only seen the following release as of now, but I imagine it will be released more often in the coming years.
