The Honda Civic Type R is a high-performance version of the Honda Civic. The third generation of the car was produced in two different versions, the FD2R for the Japanese market and the FN2 for the international market. The FD2R, designed by Mitsuru Kariya, was the first Type R only available in a four-door sedan format. It is powered by a 2.0L K20A inline-4, mated to a close ratio 6-speed manual. The car is front-wheel drive and makes 222 horsepower; production lasted from 2007 to 2011.
