This is a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser Custom. Designed by Jin-won Kim, the FJ Cruiser is a mid-sized SUV done up in a retro design resembling that of the FJ40 series of Land Cruiser produced from 1960 to 2001.
Developed in secrecy by Toyota product planner Dave Danzer and sales VP Yoshi Inaba, Danzer worked closely with director Akio Toyoda to develop the vehicle further with a special shop set up at NUMMI in California to test the feasibility of the vehicle. The FJ40 was unveiled at the 2003 Detroit Auto Show in Voodoo Blue, featuring a fresh exterior styled by Kim and an interior by William Chergosky. Positive consumer reception led to the FJ40 being greenlit for production, with the vehicle assembled at Toyota's Hamura plant in Tokyo.
Production of the FJ Cruiser began in 2007, primarily for the North American market but was also exported in small numbers to other countries. The FJ Cruiser is powered by a 4.0L 1GR-FE V6, mated to a 5-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual, the latter only for AWD models. It incorporates a body-on-frame design similar to, but not identical to, the Land Cruiser Prado; many components of the FJ Cruiser are shared with other Toyota vehicles such as the Tacoma, Tundra and 4Runner. Sales of the FJ Cruiser ended in the United States in 2014 with a number of Final Edition models, although sales continued in other countries for a few years until the car's ultimate discontinuation in 2022.
Now this casting was designed by Ron Wong and introduced in 2024 in the Fast & Furious Premium line. This is currently its only release. A number of FJ Cruisers appear in Fast X as background cars.
