This is the #39 Prince Skyline 2000GT race car. Designed by Shinichiro Sakurai, the Prince Skyline was a compact car manufactured by the Prince Motor Company; the S50-series was the second generation of the Skyline and manufactured starting 1963.
Replacing the first generation Skyline, the S50 Prince Skyline was one of the most desirable Japanese cars at the time; it was available in two trim levels, Standard and Deluxe. It was powered by a 1.5L Prince G-1 inline-4 producing 68 horsepower; initially equipped with a 3-speed column shifter manual, a 4-speed floor shifter manual was added in February 1965 for the Deluxe trim level. Externally the vehicles were differentiated with rounded brake lights, integrated taillights, a centrally-installed turn signal and a less curvy appearance than the previous generation.
The Skyline also went racing, most notably at the 1964 Japanese Grand Prix. Competing in the GT-II class, the Skyline was driven by Yoshikazu Sunako and finished second overall, only behind a Porsche 904 Carrera GTS driven by Shikiba Sōkichi. Racing versions are designated the S54 and feature some modifications compared to the original Skyline, such as a larger engine bay for a 2.0L Prince G-7 inline-6. Nissan and Prince merged in 1966, with the Skyline rebranded as a Nissan, and the rest is history. The S50 was discontinued in 1968, to be replaced by the C10. 114,238 were produced, of which 100 were S54 homologation specials.
Now this casting was designed by Mark Jones and Ron Wong and introduced in 2024 in the Japan Historics 4 Car Culture series. This casting has seen two known releases, the other being a black "Chase" version. Mark started this casting with Ron finishing it following Mark's retirement.
