This is a 1979 Freightliner FLT-9664-T. Manufactured by Freightliner Corporation, the FLT-9664-T was a cab-over engine Class 8 truck produced by Freightliner from 1977 to 1989. Freightliner's nomenclature features four or five numbers; the first two or three numbers (96 in this case) talk about the vehicle's bumper to back of cab (BBC) length and the last two numbers the vehicle's axle configuration (64 in this case), while "T" signifies a tractor unit. These vehicles tend to use Cummins engines and 9-speed transmissions. The FLT was discontinued in 1986.
This Freightliner truck however is the vehicle mode of a Cybertronian individual known as Optimus Prime. He is the supreme commander of the Autobots who are waged in essentially eternal war against the Decepticons. Cybertronians are capable of self-configuring themselves into vehicles or other things, and this is what Prime has done. Prime originates from the ancient Dynasty of Primes and embodies "strong moral values, exceptional leadership and strategic prowess" and is equipped with an ion blaster and martial art skills, championing justice and peaceful coexistence with humans.
Now this casting was designed by Manson Cheung and introduced in 2024. It can transform into robot mode and back in about 20 seconds with practice. Optimus can hold his Ion Blaster; his fists are stored in his cab in vehicle mode. This is currently its only release but a second, depicting Nemesis Prime, is slated for some time in 2025.
