This is a 1989 Ferrari F40 Competizione, chassis 80782. Designed by Pietro Camardella, Aldo Brovarone and Nicola Materazzi, the F40 Competizione is the ultimate evolution of the F40, introduced in 1989.
The F40 Competizione, in essence, is a non-sponsored and more powerful version of the F40 LM, a racing version of the F40 designed on the request of Charles Pozzi SA who wanted to take the F40 racing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with those cars being built by Michelotto for Ferrari. However, Ferrari also received requests from clients who wanted an F40 LM but did not necessarily want to race with them; this resulted in the birth of the F40 Competizione.
Built from 1989 to 1993, the F40 Competizione benefited from a more powerful 2.9L F120B V8, fitted with two larger IHI turbochargers, mated to a 5-speed manual; the first two chassis built were named the F40 LM similar to the race cars, although the remaining chassis were named the F40 Competizione as Ferrari felt the LM term was "too restrictive". The car is said to produce 691 horsepower and has a top speed of 228 mph (367 km/h). The cars were constructed by Michelotto. Ten officially recognized chassis were built.
80782 was first delivered to Kroymans BV in 1989. It was later converted into a F40 Competizione by Peter van Erp of Cavallino Tuning in 1992, then sold to Dutch Racing Promotions; modifications were made by G-Tex in and Michelotto in 1995. The Zanasi Group modified the car in 2019, making it probably the fastest F40 ever, claiming to produce 700 to 1,000 horsepower depending on tune. 80782 was sold in 2023 via Sotheby's in a private sale.
Now this casting was designed by Shawn Moghadam and introduced in 2025 as a New Model. This casting has seen four known releases, the last being in 2026.
