The Toyota 4Runner is a mid-sized sport utility vehicle (originally compact) sold around the world since 1984, replacing the older Toyota Trekker which was essentially a Toyota Hilux converted into an SUV by Winnebago. Despite being manufactured in Japan at Toyota's Tahara Plant the car is mainly manufactured for export; the car was however sold in Japan until 2009 with the name Hilux Surf. The second generation 4Runner, introduced in 1989, featured a freshly-designed body on Hilux underpinnings although both cars still shared many parts. Facelifts occurred in 1993 and 1995, with production ending the same year.
The base of the casting reads '93 Toyota 4Runner.
