This is an '18 Honda Civic Type R, internally designated the FK8. Designed by Daisuke Tsutamori and Hideki Kakinuma, the FK8 is the latest generation of the Honda Civic Type R. Featuring a design based on the Civic hatchback with distinctive wing and air scoop, aggressive lines and mid-mounted triple exhaust pipes, the Civic builds on Honda's heritage in developing high performance hatchbacks. Powered by the same 2.0L K20C1 turbocharged inline-4 as its predecessor, albeit with increased output (316 BHP from 306, America, Africa and Asia retain the detuned engine due to emissions regulations), the Civic also features a 6-speed close ratio manual transmission; rumors say it is likely to be the last Type R with a manual. With a top speed of 169 mph (272 km/h), the FK8 is the fastest Type R to date.
In back-to-back testing with its predecessor the FK2, reviewers praised the FK8's handling and feedback compared to its predecessor. The FK8 is also notable as being the first Civic Type R model to officially be exported to the United States. Production began in 2017 in Honda's Swindon Plant; it is expected to end in July 2021 with the closure of the Swindon Plant.
Now this casting was designed by the late Ryu Asada and introduced in 2019 as a New Model. This casting has been used in all years since 2019, with eight releases total; the above release counts and is unreleased as of time of writing.
