This is a 1990 Porsche 911 Carrera 2, internally known as the 964. Designed by Ben Dimson, the 964 was introduced in 1989 as the successor to the original 911.
Considered to be about 85% new when compared to its predecessor, the first model of 964 available was the Carrera 4, a four-wheel drive model, with the Carrera 2 rear-wheel drive model following in 1990. The 964, when introduced, was powered by a 3.6L M64/01 flat-6 making 247 horsepower, mated to a 5-speed Getrag G50 manual. The 964 was the first 911 to feature power steering and ABS brakes; both were included as standard.
The 964 was also the final generation of 911 until the 991 introduced in 2011 to feature a traditional targa roof, with the following three generations, the 993, 996 and 997 using a glass roof "greenhouse" system. For better aerodynamics the car's bumpers and foglights became flush with the car while active aerodynamics were incorporated into the car in the form of a movable rear spoiler which raised at speeds over 50 mph (80 km/h). The suspension now used coil springs instead of torsion bars and its interior was revised with an automatic climate control system and revised interior instrumentation. Production of the 964 ended in 1993 with 63,762 produced; about 33,400 were Carrera 2 coupes.
Now this casting was designed by Mark Jones and introduced in the Car Culture line in 2016. This casting has seen five known releases, the last being this one in the Boulevard Line in 2024.
