This is a 1997 Mitsubishi Pajero Evolution, also known as the Montero Evolution in some countries. Specifically designed to homologate the Mitsubishi Pajero Evolution for the Dakar Rally's T2 class, the Pajero Evolution was produced from 1997 to 1999. Mitsubishi has won the Dakar a record 12 times using different versions of the Pajero.

Based on the standard second generation Pajero, the Pajero Evolution had many features unique to itself. Under the hood was a 3.5L 6G74 V6, which made 275 BHP driving all fours; this was mated to a 4-speed automatic although a 5-speed manual was also available. The engine was equipped with the then-new Mitsubishi Innovative Valve Timing Electronic Control System, better known as MIVEC, as well was a dual-plenum intake. The two-door body incorporated large fender flares, two fin-like spoilers, a hood scoop and numerous other racing elements, as well as skid pads and mudflaps.

Double wishbone suspension was used for the front; the rear suspension was unique to the Pajero Evolution, being a multi-link independent design. As this was intended to be a homologation special, it was produced in limited numbers; 2,693 were produced over its three-year production run.

Now this casting was designed by Dima Shakhmatov and introduced in 2023 in the Mud Studs series of the mainline. This casting has seen five known releasesx the last being this one in the Terra Trek series of the Car Culture line.
