This is a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T. Designed by Dragan Vukadinović, the Eclipse is a sport compact car manufactured by Diamond Star Motors in Normal, Illinois for Mitsubishi Motors. Introduced in 1991, the Eclipse is named for an undefeated English race horse who won 18 races in a row and retired.
In 1995, the Eclipse was given a major restyling, having more rounded shapes and a larger interior. It maintained the market focus of the previous generation but marketed it to a broader audience. A few trim levels were available, such as the RS, GS and GS-T; the GS was a mid-range model with a Chrysler 420A 2.0L inline-4 making 140 BHP. For 1997, the car underwent a minor styling revision, with the front grille opening given a more aggressive profile and the headlights a sharper slant on the inner edges; the reverse lights were restyled as well, being moved out into the bumper fascia. The GS-T and GSX models were given higher-profile rear spoilers. Production ended in 1999.
Now this casting was designed by Eric Tscherne and introduced in 2003 as a First Edition. One of the first 'Tooned cars, this casting features a big fat turbo sticking out the hood and generally wackier proportions. This casting has seen six known releases, the last being in 2009 in a 5-Pack.
