This is a 1956 Chevrolet Corvette. Designed by Bob Cadaret and Harley Earl, the first generation of the Corvette was introduced late in the 1953 model year and produced through 1962. For 1956, the Corvette gained a new body, with real glass roll-up windows and a substantial convertible top. The only engine with this generation was the 265 ci (4.3L) Small Block V8, with power ranging from 210 to 240 horses. Transmission options included a 3-speed manual or a 2-speed Powerglide automatic. Priced at $3,120 without options, 3,467 were produced.
This 1956 Chevrolet Corvette is the star of the upcoming Barbie movie, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. Those who are eagle-eyed would have noticed that this Corvette is not a regular 1956 Chevrolet Corvette in more ways than one, this more likely being an all-electric restomod or a generic electric car with custom Corvette bodywork on top of it. Notable things on this pink Corvette include a charge door on the front left fender, retro Chevrolet wordmark with "ev" highlighted in blue, back seats and apparently also scaled down compared to the standard 1956 Corvette. Somewhere on the Internet speculates the vehicle's use of Ultium battery packs. It's not entirely clear what role this Corvette will be playing in the movie at this stage, although it might have been designed to look like a toy in comparison to the characters in the film.
Now this casting was designed by Fraser Campbell and introduced in 2023 in the HW Screen Time series in the mainline.
