This is a Custom '72 Nissan S30, better known as the 240Z. Designed by Yoshihiko Matsuo, this was the first generation of the Nissan Z car, designed to compete head-to-head with European sports cars. It was produced from 1968 to 1976.
This specific car is a heavily modified S30, based on Sung Kang's Fugu Z. Going from being inoperable to running in three months, the Fugu Z features numerous different modifications from the S30. Modifications include a Rocket Bunny Pandem body kit, a 2.6L RB26DETT inline-6 from a '94 Nissan Skyline GT-R R32 with custom tuning by GReddy, including removal of the turbos, a 5-speed manual also from a Skyline, OS Giken twin-plate clutch, flywheel and LSD, McKinney driveshaft and transmission kit, Techno Toy CV axles, R200 rear end conversion, 17-inch Volk TE37Vs on Nitto NT01s, AEM ECU, GReddy floor paneling, Carbon Signal interior trim and Takata racing harnesses. The car was awarded the GT Award at SEMA.
Now this casting was designed by Brendon Vetuskey and introduced in 2018 as the RLC sELECTIONs winner. This casting has seen four known releases, last seen as a convention piece. This casting is heavily based on the Custom Datsun 240Z casting designed by Jun Imai but features some notable differences, such as plastic side mirrors, a separate full roll cage and most notably the opening hood.
