This is a Mini. Designed by Sir Alec Issigonis and John Sheppard, the Mini is a two-door four-seat car produced by the British Motor Corporation and its various successors from 1959 to 2000 in various forms and under various names. Designed by Sir Issigonis, the Mini was first demonstrated to the press in April 1959 and was ready for demonstration by August. The car was marketed as an Austin and a Morris until 1969 when it became known as simply the Mini. Engine choices were all part of the Rover A-series line, ranging from 0.9L to 1.3L. After some seven different generations and numerous different body styles the Mini was discontinued in 2000. 5,387,862 were produced; the rights to the Mini name are currently held by BMW, which currently produces the Mini Hatch, a small hatchback with a resemblance to the classic Mini.
Now this casting was designed by Phil Riehlman and introduced in 2000 as a New Model. With fifty known releases, this casting remains a fan favorite and will likely remain so for years to come. The casting was retooled in 2015 to have a plastic base and riveting the body to the base.
