This is an '87 Toyota Hilux. Designed by Hiroshi Osawa, the Hilux was variously named the Toyota Pickup or the Toyota 1 Ton in North America. Over ten engines were made available, from the 1.6L 1Y inline-4 to the 3.0L 3VZ-E V6. In 1987, the truck underwent minor cosmetic changes, with a new grill, front bumper, updated interior and new faux stitching on the doors. This truck may really seem like any old geezer to some, but there is one thing the Hilux is most notable for: its durability.

The Hilux has many a times been described with an extraordinary level of durability, with some going as far as to label the car "invincible"; heck, even Toyota got in on the act. This reputation was most notably highlighted on several episodes of the British motoring TV show Top Gear, where an '88 Hilux was subject to extraordinary abuse, from being left on a beach with the incoming tide, left on a building as it was being demolished and being set alight; even after all that torture, the Hilux remained running after being repaired with simple tools in a toolbox. It subsequently became a background decoration in the Top Gear studio. 419,989 '87 Hiluxes were produced; production ended in 1988 although it continued until 1997 in South Africa.

Now this casting was designed by Manson Cheung and introduced in 2012 in The Hot Ones lineup as the '87 Toyota Pickup; it has been renamed a number of times since. This casting has seen eight known releases, the last being in 2017. The above release is apparently one of the most sought after of the Toyota Pickups.
