The Toyota Hilux is a pickup truck manufactured by Toyota since 1968. Sold mostly as pickup trucks, the vehicle may be configured in a number of body styles. In recent years, the Hilux is notable for its extreme durability, being able to operate after sustained and heavy levels of abuse. The fifth generation Hilux was introduced in 1988 and featured a significant redesign over previous versions; it was also available in a long wheelbase variant. This was the last generation of the Hilux available in the United States, with Toyota opting to replace it with the Tacoma in 1995.
